Caty Wagner Co-Founder & Co-Director
Caty received her BS, majoring in social work, from New York University. She earned her Master of Public Administration from the University of Connecticut in 2013. She has worked in social services, schools, hospitals, universities, orphanages, and with animals, around the country and in Haiti, Uganda and Colombia. She is an appointed alternate member of the Tulare County Democratic Central Committee, a California Democratic Party Central Committee Delegate 2017-18, and the treasurer of the Stonewall Democrats. After leading the Bernie Sanders for President 2016 campaign in Tulare County, she wanted to use the momentum of the dedicated local volunteers to impact change locally, and with a great team, she co-founded PUSH (formerly Sequoia Mavericks). Caty is committed to serving the people, particularly low-income and marginalized people, of Tulare County, as well as protecting the environments of the Central Valley and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Sal Cazarez Co-Founder & Co-Director
Sal Cazarez is a high school teacher and union member, of three years, in Visalia, California. He was born and raised in Tulare and is proud of his Mexican-American, Yokut, and Apache heritage. He received a BA from Humboldt State University in Arcata. At Humboldt, he studied history, focusing on social science secondary education. He received his master’s degree in Social Science Teaching at Bard College, where he was able to study remotely and teach in Tulare County. Sal is an an alternate member of the Tulare County Democratic Central Committee, was elected as a California Democratic Party Assembly District Delegate for AD 26 for 2017-2018 and was elected as the E-Board Representative 2017-18, and he is the secretary of the Stonewall Democrats. After volunteering with the Bernie Sanders for President 2016 campaign, he co-founded (PUSH) with Caty and the team. Sal is committed to uniting progressives and protecting the marginalized, impoverished, and underprivileged.
Betty Wright Community Advocate
Betty was born and raised in the Central Valley. She received a BA in Globalization and International Studies from Humboldt State University and her professional experience is in the non-profit sector. In addition to her work with PUSH, Betty is currently a member of the Tulare County Stonewall Democrats, the Tulare County Democratic Party Central Committee, and was elected as a California Democratic Party Assembly District Delegate for AD 26 for 2017-2018. Betty is passionate about advocating for women's rights, working families, universal healthcare, and racial justice.
